The Artistic Labs are moments consecrated to the groups of young artists and are guided by creators with experience in participatory art processes. They seek to develop tools that will support creation, to structure collaboration practices and settings, and to enable cultural exchanges among the participants.
There will be two labs during the first stage of the project, simultaneously preparing the groups for the challenges participatory arts entail and allowing for the discovery of Évora and Sardoal’s values and resources, be they symbolic locations, raw materials, stories or traditions.
A third lab shall take place at the start of the second stage, once the selection of the artistic projects that will be implemented has been made, enhancing their relation with the places and the local communities.
Artistic Lab #1, designed by Ragnhildur Stefánsdóttir from the Academy of the Senses (Reykjavik), and guided by Pedro Fazenda from Pó de Vir a Ser (Évora), goes deeper into the ideas surrounding the labyrinth and fosters collaborative practices based on Sardoal’s territory.
Artistic Lab #2, designed and guided by Teatro do Frio, seeks to map the expectations and notions of the young artists concerning participatory arts, and to yield a predisposition for listening based on the notion of psychogeography in conjunction with the discovery of Évora’s territory.
Artistic Lab #3, designed and guided by Ragnhildur Stefánsdóttir, focuses on the potential relation between the creations that will be developed on the one hand, and the public space and unconventional presentation spaces on the other hand.
